The artist who did this poster is Miriam Troop, a relative of my husband.
She is still alive, though quite elderly. She was in Israel to draw a
portrait of David Ben Gurion and he convinced her to do the Israel Day poster
as well.

Thank you Chava.
Can you document this a bit for us?
Is there any press/text available re the assignment to do the portrait of DBG?
We will gladly add Miriam's name to the above poster ... we just need a bit of documentation.

Hmm. I can try to contact her and have her contact you? I used to have a small, framed copy that she gave me, but it was lost in a move. It leads me to believe she has others.

Hello Chava,
We have already added Miriam's name to the page...and added a link to a video about her days at Moore.
If we had a photo of her with DBG or any press about his request that she create a poster that would be very good data.
Can you tell us who the pubisher was? Does Miriam have a web site?

I have a copy of the Ben Gurion potrait in a brochure that was for a retrospective of her work. I'm trying to locate it now. But she herself told me that he first tried to convince her to move to Israel (while she was doing the portrait) and that she agreed to do the poster as a "consolation prize" of sorts since she said no. It really wouldn't be hard to contact Miriam. I can see if she would recall the story again in a correspondence. She's in her 90's now (though the story was told to me almost 25 years ago) but she's still quite sharp.
