The Zionist path is (the way to) peace

Curator's note: In this poster we see Theodor Herzl on the far right in his now-iconic pose looking over the balcony in Basel, Switzerland. On the long table behind him is a copy of his most famous book, "The Jewish State". The date 1897 is carved on the edge of the table. To Herzl's left stands Chaim Weismann, Israel's first president, looking over the shoulder of David Ben Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, who is signing Israel's Declaration of Independence. The date 1948 is carved on the table's edge in front of him. Next to Ben Gurion are Menachem Begin, Israel's prime minister and Egypt's president, Anwar Sadat. They are both signing the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty which resulted from the 1978 Camp David Accords. The date 1979 is carved on the table's edge. This chronology, along with the representations of the key Zionist leaders, beginning in 1897 and leading up to 1979, is the "Zionist path" the artist is referring to in the title.
