Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine at Columbia, Barnard, and Teachers College launched a poster campaign and called attention to the “war on academia and intellectual life in Gaza” in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

The poster campaign began to show solidarity with peers and colleagues in Gaza killed by the Israeli Defense Forces since Oct. 7. Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine formed in November in response to the University’s suspension of Columbia’s chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace. The collective ultimately seeks to affirm “academic freedom and political speech” at Columbia through its campaign, according to Joseph Howley, associate professor of classics and a coordinating committee member of the collective.
