Abie Nathan Is Locked On Peace

Translation / Interpretation / Caption Text / Source

According to Yoram Shamir, the Hebrew in this poster says "Abie Nathan is locked on peace" which, in colloquial Hebrew means, "Abie Nathan is totally devoted to peace". The use of the word "locked" is a play on words: Abie Nathan was sentenced to prison in 1968 for illegal flight to Egypt and in 1986 for illegal (at that time) contacts with the PLO. The slashes mark the days he spent in jail.
