The juxtaposition of Judea, vanquished by the Romans (as depicted on the face of the coin) with the Israeli soldier being greeted by a Palestinian woman and child in Lebanon (as symbolized by the cedar in the background), is meant to draw attention to recurring choices in the course of history and to stimulate reflection about own’s own behavior in conflict. p. 145.
