if i were to draw this piece today, i would include the current #boycottsydneyfestival campaign taking place. the artists who have pulled out of the festival are doing so in their capacity as arts *workers*, and as such the withdrawal of their labour is a demonstrably a strike. the Sydney Festival has forced the hand of artists, pushing them to strike after years of unprecedented devastation for the arts - all for a $20,000 grant from the embassy of apartheid Israel (small change compared to their massive $12.3m annual income). you can read about what some ppl are saying cld be the biggest BDS push australia has ever seen - https://www.theguardian.com/.../sydney-festival-boycott... drawing originally made in May last year for Overland Literary Journal
