dimir 6:50 PM (3 hours ago) Dan i promith not to use the word remathter eva eva again! Yes you got it. I ... Vladimir Tamari 9:44 PM (12 minutes ago) to me, Kamal Dan, Kamal Found Kamal's "Deir Yassin 1948" Poster. I am sending you 1- A photo of the paper poster with fold marks spots etc. file name has "original print" in it. 2- A zip archive containing the digitally restored poster - i.e. scanned in parts as my scanner can only take A4 and photoshopped (not a photograph) but worked for hours to make it as faithful to the original poster as possible. There are three files in the zip - the largest is for Kamal for his records and in case he wants to reprint it. The one with dashes you may put as an enlarged version on the site. The one with ppp in the title is 520 px wide standard ppp size. Information about the paper poster: Original paper poster size: Width 428 mm Height 578 mm Headline on top: DEIR YASSIN 1948 In tiny letters at bottom (sic): "Kamal Bullata (PALESTINE) collection of Mrs. Suha Tukan 900 First Edition Published by the Friends of Jerusalem Produced by W. Faris Printers C.I.P. Lithography by LEOGRAVURE LEBANON 1968" Khalas I hope this will suffice- it is a beautiful design and the poster was nicely made so worth the effort. Vlado
mumkin moheem lak? Inbox x Dan Walsh 11:42 AM (16 hours ago) http://www.palestineposterproject.org/poster/of-dreamers-ezzeddine-qalaq...... Vladimir Tamari 8:14 PM (8 hours ago) to Kamal, me Shukran Dan! Kamal is in Berlin and sounds busy. I did find the photoshopped poster he made in 1964 and am sending it to you without consulting him. Kamal if you think this should not be published at Palestineposters please write immediately thanks. Your beautiful drawing should be seen bymany!! Comments: This is a low-resolution image scanned and digitally remastered from the original printed poster. The poster had this colored ink drawing surrounded by a large white margin and in large tall letters DEIR YASSIN. Best to the both of ya Vladimir _________________________________ Vladimir Tamari www.ne.jp/asahi/tamari/vladimir/ typography: www.khtt.net/person/2306/en Kamal-Boullata-1964.jpg 107K View Download Dan Walsh 8:32 PM (7 hours ago) to Vladimir more funny...just today I was asked if I ever write in advance and ask permission of an artist to add a work to the site. The short answer is no. Never. Abadan. Why? Because I consider myself to be an agent of the Palestinian people ...doing work they have been prevented from doing by virtue of invasion, exile, ethnic cleansing and occupation. In their name and in their honor I assume the right to salvage and conserve the poster art of their national liberation movement. In this respect, as I said to a wonderful young Palestinian artist working in Gaza, "later, after liberation, we can argue about copyrights. Today we seize all in the name of Palestine." You good with this? Of course, because it is you and because you asked Kamal's permission, I will honor both your missive to him as well as his reply, whatever it is. But it would be a first. Usually, Zionists balk and scream and complain...I ignore them or write to them explaining how pathological their reaction is. Then they go away and I never hear from them again. tadamon, Dan kamal.boullata@orange.fr 2:04 AM (2 hours ago) to Vladimir, me Dear Vladimir and dear Dan, Thank you both for writing. Please accept my apologies Dan for my seeming rudeness in not responding to your email which I received weeks ago. Thank you Vladimir for being the friend you are. I am indeed overwhelmed with work commitments since I accepted the invitation to spend the current academic year as a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies here in Berlin. The German sense of work ethic and their infallible punctuality can be quite taxing for someone like me who had been living for many years now on the Mediterranean. Please feel free to post on your Palestineposters the 1968 poster of Deir Yasin that is based on a wash and ink drawing that I did in 1964. All the very best to you, Warmly, Kamal Kamal Boullata Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin Institute for Advanced Study Wallotstrasse 19 14193 Berlin Germany www.wiko-berlin.de
