Dragon Defeats the Hunter

Translation / Interpretation / Caption Text / Source

The caption refers to the Master's thesis of Zacharia Zubeidi, one of the six escapees, which is titled: The Dragon and the Hunter

The banner is meant as an obvious taunt towards the Israel Prison Service and the Israel Defense Forces, both of which are engaged in the search for the escapees

The lower six images are of the Palestinians who escaped from Gilboa Prison

At the top right hand corner of the banner is a photo of the late Yasser Arafat (Fatah) and in the top left is a photo of Fathi Shaqaqi, former head of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine who was assassinated in 1995

The subtext embodied in the inclusion of these two political figures together in the same banner is that the Gilboa escapees have the unqualfied support of dissparate, even rival, Palestinian factions from across the entire political spectrum and signifies a unified determination to protect the escapees and prevent their apprehension

The top middle image is a dragon, referencing the title of Mr. Zubeidi's MA thesis from Bir Zeit University, which dealt with prisoner resistance tactics, including escapes
