Curator's note:
This poster is a color rendition of a now-famous 1988 photo of an unidentified Palestinian guerrilla holding a kitten in the Palestinian refugee camp in Bourj al Barajneh, Lebanon.
The original photograph is by Aline Manoukian and may be viewed here

To who it may concern. I recently noticed that one of my pictures - Palestinian guerrilla holding a kitten in the Palestinian refugee camp in Bourj al Barajneh, Lebanon.1988 -was transformed into a poster. Thank you for copyrighting the original picture and publishing a link to it, even though the link that you published shows a reframed version of the original image. But I sencerely thank you nevertheless because a lot of people don't even bother to mention the photographer. Will it be possible to get a copy of the poster ? With my best regards, Aline Manoukian

Comrade Aline,
Thank you for your note.
The PPPA site is dedicated to honoring all artists who honor Palestine with their creativity.
Sometimes it is a challenge to identify a source but whenever I am successful and I know for sure who did what...credit is given. This is as my many Palestinian artist comrades and colleagues want it to be since the PPPA site is actually an expression of contemporary Palestinian visual culture and the site strives to legitimate this element of Palestinian heritage.
PPPA follows the most up-to-date best practices of modern library science and archive conservation principles so that universities, museums, national archives and other prestigious institutions committed to authentic documentarianism will readily accept, use and promote Palestine posters in their networks. See our efforts (so far unsuccessful...but we have sumud!) with UNESCO's Memory of the World program here and our "Palestine Posters in Museums" effort here.
Is Seta Manoukian a relative of yours? See here:

A revolution which does not aim at changing me by changing the relations between people does not interest me; what is more, I doubt whether a revolution which does not affect me enough to transform me is really a revolution at all. The Palestinian revolution has established new kinds of relations which have changed me, and in this sense the Palestinian revolution is my revolution.
