to me
Hey Dan,
good thing I decided to check my starred folder :)
I'm wondering about the politics behind calling it Palestine poster and not Israeli poster - but let's not get into that ;)
Anyhow,
This poster was made during my 2nd year at Illustration studies over at Shenkar College for Design, one of the biggest design schools in Israel.
the class was supposed to do a series of design projects about Herzl - A poster, book covers and a comics.
I could give you my teacher's email if you'd like to get more details\more posters from other students.
the guideline we got for the poster assignment was only this phrase - Oy, Herzl, would you have believed it?
I was brainstorming with myself one night, and happened to run across "The Night of the living dead" on TCM.
I suddenly thought it would be hilarious if Herzel and all the other zionist leaders would come to life in "The night of the living-dead zioinists", see what has become of Israel, and go back to their graves :)
So - that's why Herzel is a zombie, jumping out of his grave.
The other poster for the assignment was this one:

Herzl is a magician, pulling Israel's declare of independence out of his hat. since he didn't live to see Israel being born, I guess it would have been quite a shock for him :)

that's it - hope I helped! sorry any grammar or spelling mistakes, I got back with an evil case of the flu from my vacation :)
Good luck with your thesis
