Labor Day Poster - Israel The kibbutz - the socialist inspired community - was a major cultural influence during the early years of the State of Israel. So Labor Day on May 1st was an important celebration. Histadrut, the labor movement associated with the political party Mapai and later with the Labor Party, annually published a 1st of May poster as part of this celebration. This particular Labor Day poster was printed in 1966. Overlaid on an abstract background are a number of pennants with three carrying the slogans, "to glorify the power of Histadrut"; "to raise productivity"; and "to strengthen the economy"; not so punchy a message for so striking an image. In the upper left corner is the name(?) Roli, perhaps the designer. The poster has been restored and backed onto acid-free linen. The image is bright and clean, but the original folds in the paper can still be seen on close inspection. poster dimensions: height - 39 1/4"; width - 26 1/2" Price: $1,150.00 info@artatthecenter.com
