Re - Scott Orr posters listed as 1925 and 1930

Hello,

Thank you for having such an interesting and educational site.

I have some information which more accurately dates the Scott Orr posters
featured in your listings.

I have been collecting these posters, and many others of the 1920/30/40's for
the past twelve years. The posters you feature belong to a set brought
together by E. Lane at Macmillan's. First published in 1934 under the title
Macmillan's Teaching in Practice for Infants - The set comprised of a four
volumes of books and a black portfolio containing sixty coloured class
pictures/posters. This first edition was printed by Purnell and Sons,
Paulton, Somerset, Great Britain.

A second edition followed in 1936 with an additional fifteen (numbers 61-75)
posters added to the portfolio. There were then re-printed editions with some
fashion modifications in the early 1940's (updated cars, planes, uniforms and
hats) right up until the final reprint in 1946, after this date a new set
were commissioned to keep in touch with new teaching practices.

I hope this information will prove valuable to you. If you require
photographs of the books, portfolio etc, I would be very happy to send you
some.

With best wishes and kind regards,

Emma van Woerkom

This is a delighful original teaching aid poster from around the 1930's, designed to go on classroom walls. The posters are lovely nostalgic pictures depicting scenes from home and around the world. It has some very small indents at the very side where staples held the posters together and small white round re-enforcers for the drawing pins. It has one or two small marks and some creasing from handling It depicts a peasants house in Palestine It would make a charming picture framed The poster measures 14" x14"
