Qalunya - The Land and the Roots

Translation / Interpretation / Caption Text / Source
Curator's note: This poster was originally a hand-sketched drawing from memory done by Ghalib Sumrayn who lived in Qalunya before it was destroyed. His son, Ramzi, had the original map printed as a poster.

Ok. I found a better picture -- or at least one with the names on the bottom.
They should be in what is up on the PPPA.
It is attached.
I can't really read it well but it says something like
"preparation: Ghalib Sumrayn"
"implementation: Ramzi (NOT SURE?) Sumrayn"

I know Ghalib. He's an old dude. He made the map, because he knows
the village. But Ramzi, who is one of his sons I think, drew it for him.

Make sense?

Maybe say "Created by Ghalib and Ramzi? Sumrayn"

the first part of your note made sense. Did Nick write it? :)

The second part:

"so you might say "created by Ghalib Sumrayn" and "drawn by X" when
we can figure out his name."

????

"created by" and "drawn by" are USUALLY the same person in the poster-world.

Maybe what you are getting at is this: we will simply list TWO names under "Artist" for this poster?

Tayyib?

you seemed to have cut the bottom of this photo off (or maybe i did?)
but the name of the artist is there.
and the guy who prepared it (as in knows all the information)
is ghalib sumrayn.

so you might say "created by Ghalib Sumrayn" and "drawn by X" when
we can figure out his name.
