Akko (Acre) market Life in the Galilee as depicted in an old romantic Arabic poster... looking again at this photo after posting it ...it actually depicts something totally different....I was hooked on the very naive quality of it and did not see the subtext...it is a very political poster of an elderly Palestinian man taking a young boy (maybe grandson) to see the ruins of his old village... in the background there are red roofs of a Israeli Jewish village or kibbutz...red roofs in Palestinian media and art usually stands for village or kibbutz or any other Israeli settlement not only in the Westbank and the Gaza strip but also within the known borders of Israel...you can also see a cactus, cactus like that was planted in the old Arabic villages as border to agriculture fields...as an Israeli it is not an easy image to deal with...if I was an Arab Israeli or Palestinian this would be the image that define my identity...
