Description
ZIM Shipping Lines is today one of the top 20 shipping companies in the world and it is based in Israel. It's origins were in the 1940's just prior to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The boats were initially used to transport new immigrants to the growing State of Israel. In the 1950's ZIM acquired more vessels that were used for passengers as well as transporting cargo. In this image we see the image of a woman on a cruise with the line " A Sunfilled Sea Vacation" under her. The ZIM line was promoting its cruise experience and its destinations in Europe and the United States. George Hamori (1918 - ) was born in Hungary. He left under pressure of the Communist regime and studied graphic design in a number of European countries until he emigrated to Israel in the early 1950's. Hamori met the head of the Israeli Post Office and began to design many of the early stamps of the State of Israel. He left Israel in 1956 and moved to Sydney, Australia and continued his specialty in postage design as well as other areas of design. In his career he had won numerous awards for his images in the postage stamp and advertising fields. His designs in Australia included work for Qantas and the Bank of Australia. As well as the United Nations. This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition.
